Getting the flu isn’t fun, so taking any precautions to avoid catching a case of the flu is important.
How can YOU prevent the flu?
The number one preventative measure against the flu is the flu vaccine. Other preventative measures include decreasing the spread of germs and developing healthy behaviors. For example, washing your hands with soap and water, avoid sneezing and coughing into your hands, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, and staying away from others who may also be sick.
What are common flu symptoms?
Common flu symptoms noted by the CDC include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, body aches, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, fatigue, and headaches. If you begin to experience these symptoms, seek medical treatment.
Who is at most risk for the flu?
Populations with a higher risk for catching the flu include children under the age of 5, adults 65 and older, pregnant women, people living in long term homes, and individuals with certain medical conditions.
